No words can describe or convey or capture or understand sound or music. And yet, lots of writers spend lots of time with this impossibility, using the sonic to generate words, moods, and methodologies.

My research acknowledges the power within this negative capability (many dimensions are ripped into existence via the engines of music) and looks at how sound and music are used in sf as vectors for weird and technologically unseemly things. Inevitably, in my writing, this churns up themes that confront the technocratic trigger-pullers of our day and the suspect logics of their favorite economics.

My MFA at the University of Glasgow has been going on a long time.

I teach creative writing at the University of Luxembourg, write reviews for Shoreline of Infinity, sit on the reading committee of Black Fountain Press, and write desperately on my lunch breaks.
